Hello!

The name's Nicko. (knee-co, not nick-oh)

Growing up, I always caught myself staring at the tiny details in everything. It was in high school when I started doing the same for type. I thought it was just casual fun, looking at the subtle differences from one typeface to another. I never realized that I could actually make this into a career choice until one teacher pointed out my eye for art and design.

Over my years at Montclair State University, I fell in love with UI/UX design. It was the idea of being able to take someone along for an engaging ride through an interface that fueled my passion. During my time in college, I interned at Pearl Media. There, I was able to find
a strong sense of book and poster advertising design through the assignments my lead tasked me with. Over the course of my time there, I was able to widen my view on the professional design world and really understand that a simple mark can make a huge impact in the field.

After school ended, I was hired on as a Junior Graphic Designer at FH Group, where I started my career in photography and design. I later moved on to become a Junior Graphic Designer at Flywheel Partners. Since joining Flywheel, I have been promoted to Senior Graphic Designer and am currently a Design Project Lead. They pushed me past my comfort zone and allowed me to become a versatile designer. Through my time here, I've learned to work on various on print and digital mediums, as well as delve back into coding and UI/UX design. I was also given multiple opportunities to create vast new skillsets as well, in programs such as Figma and After Effects. I've also learned stronger attention to detail, time and project management, and how to work under tight client demands and deadlines through working in this agency setting.
